Terms of service

CollectorX is run by one person — an individual operating as a sole proprietor in India, not a company. Using the service means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it; nothing here is hidden behind a login you have already passed.

CollectorX is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by or officially connected with the Union Public Service Commission or any government agency. All question papers are sourced from publicly available official archives.

No claim of official status, endorsement or connection of any kind is made, and nothing on this site or in the app should be read as one. “UPSC” and the names of the examinations are used only to describe factually what the questions are.

CollectorX lets you practise Civil Services Prelims previous-year questions on your own, and play rated one-against-one duels on those questions against other users. Results move a rating, and the rating places you on a ladder. It is a practice tool. It is not coaching, not a syllabus, and not a prediction of anything.

You need an account to play, and you are responsible for what happens under it. One account per person. Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else has access.

The service is intended for adults preparing for the examination. Do not create an account if you are under 18.

A rating is only worth something if it was earned, so this section is the one with teeth. While using CollectorX you may not:

• use a script, bot or any automated means to play, queue or answer;
• hold more than one account, or play against yourself through a second account, to move a rating in either direction;
• look up answers during a rated round, or coordinate with an opponent about a result;
• scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract questions, explanations or other users’ data;
• probe, overload or interfere with the service, or attempt to reach data that is not yours;
• abuse, harass or impersonate another user.

Where we find any of this, we may reset a rating, remove a result, suspend an account or close it. Where it is obviously deliberate we will do so without notice. Where it looks like a mistake we will ask first.

The questions and their official option text are UPSC’s, taken verbatim from publicly available official archives, and scored against the answer key UPSC itself published. We did not write them and we did not decide the answers.

The explanations, the marking implementation, the rating system, the interface and everything else assembled here are ours. Explanations are written for CollectorX and are not taken from any coaching institute’s published solutions.

You may use all of it for your own preparation, on any number of your own devices. You may not republish it, resell it, feed it into another product, or present it as your own — including as training data or question banks for another service.

Answer keys are the official ones. Questions are transcribed from official papers, and transcription is done by people and software, so an error is possible — a mistyped option, a missing line, an explanation that misses the point. If you find one, report it and it will be corrected.

Nothing here is a guarantee about the examination, your result, or what will be asked in future. Treat it as practice material, which is what it is.

Everything currently on CollectorX is free. It is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free — it is run by one person on modest infrastructure, and saying otherwise would be a promise nobody could keep.

Features may change or be withdrawn, and the service may end. If paid features are ever introduced, that will be told to you before anything is charged, and these terms will be updated first.

You can stop at any time and ask for your account to be deleted — see the privacy policy for what deletion does and what is retained. We may suspend or close an account for a breach of the fair-play section above, or where we must to comply with the law.

To the fullest extent Indian law permits, CollectorX is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost study time, or for any outcome in an examination. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 stand whatever this section says.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of competent jurisdiction in India will hear any dispute — subject to any right you have to bring a consumer complaint where you live.

When these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and the change is announced in the product. Continuing to use CollectorX after that means the updated terms apply.
